CHAPTER 1 – INTRODUCTION

1.1 Purpose.

The purpose of this advisory circular is to provide information to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian aviation industry on which aircraft parts

are acceptable for use on Saudi Arabian registered aircraft. This guidance material represents an acceptable means of compliance with the

application requirements prescribed in GACAR Part 21 and 43.

1.2 Applicability.

This advisory circular is applicable to aircraft owners, operators and aircraft maintenance personnel for aircraft on the Saudi National

Aircraft Register.

1.3 Cancellation.

This version 4.0 updates EU parts acceptable requirements, revises the notes by adding notes 4 and asterisk’s note and added Special

Cases requirement for onetime approval. This version cancels version 3.0 of this Advisory Circulars.

1.6 Definitions of Terms Used in this Advisory Circular.

Affected parties should refer to Subpart A of GACAR Part 1 for a full listing of defined terms used in the new GACAR. Many new or

revised definitions have been added to the GACAR. This Advisory Circular does not introduce any new terms.

1.7 Approval.

This Advisory Circular has been approved for publication by the Assistant President Aviation Standards Sector of the General Authority

of Civil Aviation.

2.1 General.

This chapter summarizes essential information concerning parts acceptable for use on Saudi Arabian registered aircraft.

2.2 Acceptable Parts.

Table 2.1 summarizes the parts acceptable for use on Saudi Arabian registered aircraft. For concerns or questions concerning the information

presented in Table 2.1 interested persons should contact the Airworthiness Division of the General Authority of Civil Aviation.

+ = TSO’d articles complied with. For SATSOA articles require an installation approval under GACAR Part 21 before they may be

installed.

* = A complete engine or propeller may not be disassembled to represent several components unless authorized by the Aircraft

Maintenance Manual. An example is a modular engine. In this case, the release to service must indicate that the module was tested with a

test bed certified engine and the performance parameters were within the manufacturer’s standards and technical data and a record of that

test accompanies the approval for return to service. The Manufacturer may rebuild or alter aircraft engine or propeller and may approve for

return to service. Ref GAGAR part 43.5 (j) & 43.9 (d).

2.3 Special Cases.

ONE-TIME APPROVAL for installation of a part that does not meet the above criteria may be authorized by the president in extraordinary

situations. Request for one-time approval shall be made in writing to the president.
